Mental Skills Training

What are mental skills?

Just like you train your physical being, mental training is also important to meet the demands of competition and pushing ourselves to our new personal best. These are the skills that allow for your mentality to maximize and drive your physical and emotional self for peak performance. Sports are mental as well as physical so building a mindset that is strong, resilient and adaptable builds towards consistency and winning the mental game!

Confidence

Having confidence in yourself is key to building on past success and meeting new challenges.  When we experience self-doubt or reservation, we do not perform our best and it compounds over time. Self confidence is a skill that we develop and nurture.

Performance Pressure

Competition is different from practice and we need to prepare to meet the pressure.  By cultivating your strengths and planning, we develop and prepare technically, strategically, physically and psychologically for training and competition.

Resiliency

Getting knocked over figuratively and literally is a part of the game, and so is getting back up. Resiliency is a strength and skillset that sets us up for long-term success. Sometimes our past skills or mechanisms do not work as well today and we need to develop new methods of durability.

Goal-setting

Having a hope or dream is separate from a goal that you can attain. Let's develop a strategy for setting performance goals, developing strategies, designing supports and working towards meeting those goals so that you can make new ones!

And many more.....

There are many more including dealing with perfectionism, overcoming fears, and developing communication and leadership skills. You have a relationship to your sport that is personal and intimate and so are the skills, resourcing and knowledge that you have. Let's work on identifying and developing your mental skillset to serve you today and long-term.
